How to Participate in Giving Tuesday
Anike Foundation promotes education and empowers African youths through the provision of educational materials and resources. Over the past thirteen years, we have distributed school supplies - such as workbooks, pencils and sports equipment - to primary schools in need.
We are proud to participate in #GivingTuesday on December 1, 2020. This year, we are raising funds for five education projects in Africa.
A River Blue – Uganda: Training of 120 young women in irrigation technology
ACT Women Foundation – Uganda: Provision of multimedia training to 50 young women
BIRD – Liberia: Provision of equipment and materials for a computer library
Mtende Homecraft Foundation – Malawi: Provision of 160 textbooks to elementary school students
Tumaini Hand Mission – Kenya: Provision of 200 books to 100 pre-primary schoolchildren

What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving and unity. Now in its twelfth year, Giving Tuesday is recognized as an opportunity for people and communities to come together in the spirit of generosity. The first Giving Tuesday was held on December 4, 2014. Today, the day continues to be recognized worldwide.
When is Giving Tuesday this year?
Giving Tuesday is held on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, Giving Tuesday will be held on December 1, 2020. Following traditional days of spending, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday stands in contrast. Instead, Giving Tuesday is focused on the act and spirit of giving back.

Why does Giving Tuesday exist?
The spirit of generosity can be found all around us. Giving Tuesday recognizes this. As a global movement, the event is designed to inspire people and communities to come together at a time of the year when we can collectively reflect on those in need. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are recognized as days of spending, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to donate—your time, your talent or your passion to transform your community. Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation. It did not take long for Giving Tuesday to be embraced and gain awareness across social media. The hashtag #GivingTuesday is part of the official name.
