How to Donate on Giving Tuesday

Anike Foundation promotes the education and empowerment of African youths by providing them with educational materials and resources.

Thanks to our supporters, we have been able to provide school supplies to more than 20,000 African schoolchildren in the past thirteen years.

We are proud to be involved with a global day of giving by participating in #GivingTuesday on December 1, 2020.

With your help, we can give the gift of education to a generation of schoolchildren.

5 Things to Know About Giving Tuesday

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving and unity. Now in its twelfth year, Giving Tuesday is recognized as an opportunity for people and communities to come together in the spirit of generosity. The first Giving Tuesday was held on December 4, 2014. Today, the day continues to be recognized worldwide.

When is Giving Tuesday this year?

Giving Tuesday is held on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, Giving Tuesday will be held on December 1, 2020. Following traditional days of spending, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday stands in contrast. Instead, Giving Tuesday is focused on the act and spirit of giving back.

How Does Giving Tuesday work?

There are several ways to participate in Giving Tuesday this giving season. As an Anike Foundation supporter, you can help us reach vulnerable African schoolchildren in the following ways:

  • Making a donation

  • Creating a fundraiser

  • Sponsoring a student

Why does Giving Tuesday exist?

The spirit of generosity can be found all around us. Giving Tuesday recognizes this. As a global movement, the event is designed to inspire people and communities to come together at a time of the year when we can collectively reflect on those in need. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are recognized as days of spending, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to donate—your time, your talent or your passion to transform your community. Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation. It did not take long for Giving Tuesday to be embraced and gain awareness across social media. The hashtag #GivingTuesday is part of the official name.
