Community Outreach
Village community outreach forums placements can include youth mentoring, HIV prevention and AIDS care, home visiting, sanitation and hygiene, public health, women's groups focusing on vocational skills and women's rights, and teaching modern organic farming methods in poor urban schools, painting, construction among others.
Community Outreach also includes home visits to elderly, disabled, and persons living with HIV/AIDS to keep company, offer relief, and assess needs. This is a good opportunity for volunteers to see the daily challenges faced by marginalized groups in Uganda. A village placement is particularly appropriate for volunteers with great ideas and enthusiasm for grassroots development, the volunteer is attached to the local community organizations.
For the work camp, it is a one-time payment of $750 which includes constructional work, feeding at the site and airport transfers.
Teaching Assistants and Education
This program works with schools in the local communities. Volunteers teach and help teachers as teaching assistants during school academic terms. Basic subjects are taught by volunteer like basic mathematics and English. Volunteers also help with several activities like lesson planning, planning and preparation of school meals and administrative assistance plus extra curricular activities like games and sports and music and drama as well as sharing their culture and skills holistically where possible.
